Did you see the recent news story about the latest populist political grandstanding by the conservative Republicans who now control the House of Representatives? Well, it seems they felt the best use of their time in these difficult economic times was to read us all the Constitution, a bit of political theater that was apparently expected to take several hours. I suppose this type of thing probably plays well in the Great American Corn Belt, but I have to say I had quite the belly laugh myself. Not because I don’t respect the Constitution, which of course I do. I’m laughing because of the hubris of conservatives who think they have some special knowledge of the Constitution that the rest of us do not.
